Adding Extras to Your Car Rental Booking


Adding extras to your car rental booking is easy with VroomVroomVroom.

When placing your booking, you’ll find the options to add a GPS unit or child seats below the details of your selected vehicle. If the equipment is available at the time of booking, the cost will be added to the booking.

Be aware that some car rental providers place their equipment ‘on request’ so the cost may not be added at the time of booking. The VroomVroomVroom customer care team will follow up with you to let you know the equipment has been added to your booking before providing you with the updated cost.

Adding a Child Seat to Your Car Rental Booking

If you’ll be travelling with a child or children younger than 7 years old (or shorter than 148cm), you’ll need to consider what kind of child seat you’ll need for your rental car. As a general guide:

  • Children under 2 years old: Rear-facing child seat with an inbuilt harness. Capsules are not available to hire from car rental companies, only rear-facing seats.
  • 2 years old to 4 years old: Forward-facing child seat with an inbuilt harness.
  • 4 years old to 7 years old: Forward-facing child seat with an inbuilt harness or a booster seat with a harness.
  • Over 7 years old: Booster seat with a harness. If your child is taller than 148cm, they’ll be able to use the standard seat and adult seatbelt.

Car rental providers in New Zealand will generally add a daily fee to your booking for each child seat.

Adding a GPS to Your Car Rental Booking

Like child seats, rental providers will charge a daily fee for any GPS devices added to your booking. These GPS devices are subject to availability, and the price will vary depending on your chosen rental provider.


When You Reserve Optional Extras

Generally, child seats and GPS units are available for hire at an additional daily cost. It’s important you book these extras in advance to ensure availability. Please note that if you do book extras, the items will be your responsibility and will not be covered by vehicle insurance. Charges will apply for lost or damaged items.
