Sixt offers compact cars, economy cars, intermediate cars, SUVs, wagons, and passenger vans. The available range of vehicles varies per location.

How can I pay for my car hire with Sixt?

AMEX, Mastercard, Visa, JCB, and Diners Club credit cards are accepted for vehicle payments with Sixt. Visa and Mastercard debit cards are only accepted at some Sixt locations, and cash payments are not currently supported.

How much does Sixt require for security bond?

Standard car types commonly require a security deposit of AUD $200. Higher deposits are required for specialist vehicles.

What is the minimum age to hire a car from Sixt in New Zealand?

As per their minimum age requirement, you need to be at least 21 years old to hire a car with Sixt. Drivers aged between 21 and 24 will need to pay a young driver surcharge and may be restricted to a limited range of vehicles.

What type of driver licence does Sixt accept?

Any full, unrestricted licence will satisfy Sixt's driving licence requirements. Learner permits and provisional licences are not accepted for vehicle hire, and if your licence isn’t printed in English, you’ll need to present an International Driving Permit (IDP).

Does a Sixt hire car include insurance?

Yes. Basic cover is included in the rental quote, but should the vehicle be stolen or damaged in an accident, or a third-party loss occurs, you’ll be liable to pay up to the Rental Vehicle Excess amount as per your Sixt rental agreement.

Do I have to wash the vehicle before returning it to Sixt?

No. Sixt doesn’t require you to wash the hire car prior to drop-off, but it’s advised you return the vehicle in fair condition to avoid cleaning fees.

Do I need to refuel before returning the vehicle to Sixt?

Yes. Return the hire car to Sixt with a full tank of petrol to avoid additional charges.

How do I extend the booking period of my Sixt hire car?

You can modify your booking with the VroomVroomVroom app or contact our customer care team to make changes before your booking period commences. If you’ve already collected your vehicle, you’ll need to contact the Sixt depot you collected from. Any changes may alter the total cost of your rental.
