Every year, thousands of racegoers and farming fans regularly flock to Addington Raceway and Riccarton Park Racecourse to celebrate New Zealand Cup and Show Week usually held in November. The Cup Week also features the Christchurch Casino NZ Cup and the New Zealand Agricultural Show held in Canterbury Agricultural Park. Fashion is closely associated with horse racing, and during New Zealand Trotting Cup Day, both Addington and Riccarton seek out the best-dressed men and women in attendance. From Christchurch Airport: Driving to the Memorial Ave and Clyde Road will take at least 25 minutes to reach the venue. You can also take the SH 1 and SH 73 in your rental car.
From Christchurch CBD: It will only take around 15 minutes to reach Addington Raceway if you take the Moorhouse Ave and Lincoln Road. Another alternative route is via Colombo St and State Highway 76.
You can bring your rental car as there is no charge for car parking, however please note that space is very limited both at Addington Raceway and Riccarton Park Racecourse on Cup Week. Public car parks are located at the front of Horncastle Arena and on the grassed area behind Horncastle Arena.
