Once you’ve selected your rental car you can add a selection of extras including child seats and a GPS. Read on to find out the details.

Adding extras to your car rental booking is easy with VroomVroomVroom.

When placing your booking, you’ll find the options to add a GPS unit or child seats below the details of your selected vehicle. If the equipment is available at the time of booking, the cost will be added to the booking.

Be aware that some car rental providers place their equipment “on request” so the cost may not be added at the time of booking. The VroomVroomVroom customer care team will follow up with you to let you know the equipment has been added to your booking before providing you with the updated cost.

When booking a child seat for your rental car, it’s important to be mindful of the laws around child seats in New Zealand — all children in cars must travel in a child restraint until at least their 7th birthday. If there is a child restraint available in the car, they must use it when travelling until they turn 8.

If you need to add a child seat to your rental car booking, be it a rear-facing or forward-facing child seat, or a booster seat, you can do so during the booking process — depending on availability. If the option for child seats is “on request,” our team will contact you to confirm your request and let you know the updated cost. If you have already made your booking, you can request a child seat by contacting our customer care team.

If you’re planning to drive in New Zealand’s Auckland, Christchurch, or Wellington—or any urban areas—a GPS unit will make navigating unfamiliar streets a lot easier.

Depending on unit availability, you’ll be able to add a GPS to your rental car upon booking. If the GPS unit is listed as “on request,” our team will get in touch with you to confirm your GPS and the updated cost of your booking. If there is no option to add a GPS when booking—or if you’ve already placed your booking — feel free to contact our customer care team.

Generally, child seats and GPS units are available for hire at an additional daily cost. It’s important you book these extras in advance to ensure availability. Please note that if you do book extras, the items will be your responsibility and will not be covered by vehicle insurance. Charges will apply for lost or damaged items.
