Policies vary per supplier, but generally renters are required to present a valid credit or debit card in their name to pick up their vehicle. The card is required to cover the security bond, which will be taken at the time of pick-up. The renter will not be able to access this amount during the rental period.
Debit cards are only accepted by some suppliers if they have the Mastercard or Visa emblem. Debit cards may not be accepted if you are hiring from the luxury or specialty fleet, and using this type of payment may require you to leave a higher security bond. Keep in mind that the card has to have been issued by a bank and also have the primary renters full name on the card. The funds themselves will be debited from a cheque/current account
