The inland track is hilly with magnificent rocky outcrops and features Harwood Hole, the deepest sinkhole in the southern hemisphere. The coastal track is an easier option, catering to all fitness levels and in the tranquil bay you might just get to see a dolphin or a seal at play! Beyond the Able Tasman National Park is the Kahurangi National Park and the beautiful Golden Bay area. The Kahurangi National Park offers three walking trails for those wishing to take 2 to 5 day hikes. The longest trail is the Heaphy Track at 82 kilometres long. Here is your best chance to catch a glimpse of the Great Spotted Kiwi, the bird that has become synonymous with all that is New Zealand.

Nelson Lakes National Park is situated around 90 minutes from Nelson. This majestic alpine park offers rugged mountain terrain, ideal for experienced mountaineers to explore and for not so experienced trekkers to photograph!

Clear alpine rivers and serene lakes create an ambient environment for bird- watching, hiking, fishing and boating. And for those seeking an extra thrill there is white- water rafting on the Buller River rapids.
